Good Riddance

Good Riddance is uniquely formulated by Jeannie Lynch, a qualified cosmetic chemist who specialises in natural ingredients. While travelling around Australia with her family, she decided to leave her corporate career behind to follow her passion for natural skincare.

In 2010 Jeannie launched her business, Natural Wonders, and started making natural products which she sold at various Darwin markets. This soon developed into an obsession and in 2013, she completed her Diploma in Personal Care Formulation. Jeannie is now a member of the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists.

You don’t need DEET to repel mosquitoes and midges.

Good Riddance Insect Repellent is a DEET-free, natural mozzie repellent that has been clinically proven to repel mosquitoes and protect against midges and sandflies. When you’re applying an insect repellent to yourself and your kids every day, it’s pretty hard not to be concerned about the toxic effects of all that DEET.It’s unsurprising then, that 1 in 4 Australians try to purchase natural insect repellents!

Most natural repellents suck
We found that there were 3 main problems with natural mozzie repellents on the market, and believe me, we tried them all. They either stunk, or felt sticky, or simply didn’t work. So, we decided to do something about it!!

An insect repellent shouldn’t need DEET to work
While it’s pretty common to hear “nothing but DEET works”, that’s not what the science says. Good Riddance Insect Repellent was developed in Darwin based on the latest scientific research about mozzies and what they hate. Because, when you live in Darwin, you need to make sure that you (and your kids) are protected properly.

THE FOUR THINGS THAT IT MAKE WORK

The proprietary essential oil blends
The Good Riddance Tropical and Good Riddance Sensitive essential oil blends were developed through an extensive research and development process in our lab. We scoured through the latest plant chemistry research to identify the most effective essential oils for repelling mozzies, midges and sandflies. Then, we spent countless hours trialling different blends to create two blends of oils that smell great and provide lasting protection.

We’ve made it a cream
There aren’t many insect repellent creams out there, but there’s a reason why we decided to do things a little differently! Our cream base is rich with shea butter and beeswax. This helps prevent the essential oils from evaporating so you don’t need to reapply as often. It also provides a physical barrier against those pesky midges and sandflies! Independent clinical testing of our Sensitive range showed that our cream is significantly more effective at protecting against midges than DEET.

No corners were cut for a quick buck
Good Riddance was first and foremost created for our family. It needed to align with our values and be safe for our two young boys to use every single day. We spent years scouring the research for innovative natural ingredients to create the safest, most stable cream possible, including a new, natural preservative derived from basil. We have sourced all of our ingredients from Australian suppliers who do not test on animals and where possible, we choose certified organic ingredients. Our packaging and labels are sourced from Australian suppliers and all of our products are still handmade in house so that we have total control
over the process..

It’s been rigorously tested (and accredited)
The proof really is in the pudding when it comes to a natural insect repellent. During development, our product was rigorously tested by fishermen in Darwin and Kakadu. After launching our product, we quickly found ourselves with thousands of raving customers, but we wanted to take things a step further. We spent over two years putting our Good Riddance range through a series of independent clinical trials to ensure it does what it says it does.

In 2020 we were able to register the products with the APVMA – Australia’s accreditation body for insect repellents.
